KIT HOUSES
THIS
WORKSHOP IS FOR
Homeowners, students, design enthusiasts, no prerequisits.
DESCRIPTION
Learn to design an inspiring, creative solar home unique to you and your building site taking advantage of all the site has to offer. Three-dimensional cardboard “sketch models” will be the medium used in this organic design method without being limited by the 2 dimensional paper and orthogonal world. Use the workshop’s sample project or bring your own future project.
Conventional building methods are limited in effectively using our dwindling resources. Predetermined architectural styles and forms are not well suited to energy efficient and solar design, and even though they can be comforting due to their familiarity, they miss the opportunity to enable owners to become inspired by their place and live closer to nature. Learn to design a home that is both inspired by its natural surroundings and necessary for energy independence.
INSTRUCTOR
This workshop is taught by designer / builder Noah Grunberg, Owner of Noble Home and 12 year partner in JASONOAH design-build. SEE MORE DETAIL.

FOR
Builders, Homeowners
DESCRIPTION
Learn how to read architectural drawings as well as draw and successfully communicate your residential design to others. Basic skills will be taught to break down your design into standard architectural drawings: foundation plan, floor plans, building sections, and more. Discussions will include structural considerations, building codes, industry standard notations, drawing symbols and dimensioning systems. Graph paper will be used to aid the beginner drafter.
A sample project will be the model used for the class. If the student has a particular project that he/she would like to use for the class, please discuss with the instructor prior to class.
TOOLS NEEDED
(not required for first class)
Architectural scale and/or ruler
Pencils, sharpener, eraser, drafting (low tack) tape
